Inspiration
Rooted in close observation and an idiosyncratic perspective, my hyperrealist oil paintings and intricate pen drawings explore how I process and experience my surroundings through the patterns, textures, colours and unusual viewpoints that capture my attention. I am instinctively drawn to what might otherwise be overlooked or unseen, bringing it into sharp relief.
This highly detailed pen drawing captures the reflection of The Shambles in York in the temporary surface of a puddle. The distorted reflection resonated with my own experience of the world, where what seems familiar can still feel confusing, and understanding often comes only after looking more closely.
