Nature vs Urban

I use two very different mediums to make sense of the world around me.

My pen drawings are about how I see and process the urban world. I find that striping away the colour help me to focus on the perspective and detail of what i see.

But with oil painting, it’s completely different. I become completely absorbed in the tiny details of the natural world — the colours, textures and intricate patterns that might otherwise get missed, I used oil paints and cropped or macro perspective to communicate the immersive experience I feel when in nature.

For me, both are ways of making sense of the world, and of capturing those little moments of fascination and wonder that I find in everyday life.
